Sweet Endings, 2014!

Hello there,
We are near the countdown and I’m hoping you people had just as wonderful year as I did. Thank you so much for all the support and appreciation. I’ve come along the year with being done with college, working as a stylist, and a starting a platform where I could share my know-how of fashion and will continue to walk you through my everyday experiments with the wardrobe.
The Christmas pictures couldn’t be posted as the card got corrupt but I’m hoping to reshoot the outfit in 2015 nonetheless. The good part being, I’m hoping to make up here with three NYE posts in one. I always start with all the hoopla of shopping in the name of the perfect NYE outfit and end up picking a lot more. So, I’ve gotten together my personal favourites. I went with a full sequin short dress last year, so I decided to skip them this year though it could be your last resort if you’re in two minds. This year, I am still swearing by the shimmer and glitz detailing. The festive season gives the liberty to pull out all the bling and the shine from the closet and that is exactly what I did.

Usually I go for something short for NYE, so this was the first thing that came up with. I didn’t want to repeat a short dress so this textured fleather skirt from Redress was my next best bet. It was one of my last minute purchases and it lets me bring out this Forever New jacket. Neon clothing has been a part of wardrobe for the longest time and it being a part of my last post seemed right. The Dylanlex neckpiece brought the needed tinge of boho.

There are a lot of you who would shy away from skin show and I’d say this look would serve best for it. I would even go with this look for a concert. I simply loved the detailing on the leggings that was a steal from Koovs and the peplum cut-out top seemed to go well with it. Junking up on NYE is something I would be doing so look made the next potential option. I’ve loved all kinds of hand and headgears, and would fashion one as and when I get the chance to.

I went with the metallic grey maxi gown for the last look, which had a cut out back and just the right length. I paired it with a pair of statement earrings from FancyPants. I think this look could be worn for a commercial party without the worry of being ogled at. I loved the fit of the dress and the colour was just right!

I hope you all liked the post. I’d love to know which look did you like the best. Also, do tag me on what you people decide to wear this hyped eve! I’d suggest all you girls to carry a jacket with your outfit as it promises to give an edge and the necessary layering for a safe start to 2015! I’ve loved your feedbacks to my posts and the encouragement to do more. With unreal resolutions being made, I hope to make a real one with blogging more and connecting with you guys more often! Here is to future experiments, crazy parties, more shoots, and lots of love! See you on the other side!

Hello Winter

TrenchCoat- Marks&Spencers, Dress- Bandra boutique, Boots- HillRoad
Beanie- Accessorize, Sling- Snazzy, Rings- Blur

Winter is here! And it is time to bring out all the warm layers from the closet cause finally, the wait is over in Mumbai too! Not so much in the day, but the nights and early mornings sure have become chilly.

The best thing about this weather is that we can play around with the fall collection comprising of  varied options. Though here, people usually go with the sweatshirts and hoodies for the warmth but coats are catching up too. I believe, coats are a staple this season. They keep you warm, comfy, and they manage to make you look fabulous, all at the same time. I picked mine from Marks and Spencers (Lokhandwala) a while back and decided to with a burgundy as I wanted to try something bold. I’d recommend a black for starters as it could be worn to offices or even for a dinner night.

While styling this look I was really excited because I always wanted to post a trench coat look which had me patiently waiting for the fall. Also, animal prints have been a raving fashion and yes I adore the print in all the possible ways. They can make you look glam and grungy. I had picked this dress really long back and as the coat didn’t have much of detailing, the printed dress worked really well and added black stockings to it. I went with a pair of knee high boots which were a complete steal and carried a black sling and an adorable beanie from accessorize which completed my winter look.

If you guys are following me on Instagram, you must have seen that I recently got my hair coloured in red, brown and a hint of caramel. I really love how it turned out, it complemented the look even though I was skeptic in the start.

Ideally, this is how I would be dressed if I was traveling internationally or for an elite party/dinner night even in India. It was a really chilly early morning when we shot this, so I decided to sip in my favourite Toffee Latte from Starbucks (And I don’t even need a reason to!). Stay tuned until more on the winter looks and the year-end celebrations.
Love, Riya

Black & Bling

Culottes- Koovs, Crop Top- Forever21, Sling- Snazzy,
Rings-Madishthestylebar, Claw MidiRings- Popfashion,
Hand Chunks- Lokhandwala Market

I believe, wearing black on black never goes wrong. I do that when I really like a black top or bottom but weirdly can't find something to tag it with or I'm just too bored.
With curiosity came a little hesitation to try something new! I've been all ears to new trends and putting up a good show is what I try.

While I came across this culottes, I was in two minds whether I can carry it or no, and I went for it anyway (Exactly how I take most of my decisions). These culottes come off more like skirts but basically they are knee length trousers. They can look very elegant and they are surprisingly versatile. I actually wear them more than I thought I would. They have pleats which give a structure and make it look more like a skirt. It also has back darts which helps it set on your body type comfortably and look really chic.

Whenever I tried culottes in the past, the fit wasn't up to to the mark. But when I got my hands on these pair from Koovs, they fit like a dream. Culottes can even give a contemporary look when worn with a boxy  T-top or even when worn with a cardigan over it. And they could always be worn with a casual T-shirt or a Shirt for an everyday look, so you don't have to save it for special occasions. As I earlier mentioned for me, black is a saviour so I decided to team up with mesh crop top from forever 21. The fabric possibilities for these cropped pants are almost endless.

I wanted to play around with black & gold so I decided to ditch the colours and just take a leap of faith with the heavy accesorizing. I wore a gold body chain to give it a grungy look and added a few hand chunks. I also wore my favourite rings and my new heart mirrored sunnies from Madish. These heels were a part of my birthday gift and they actually blended well which made it as the last piece of bling needed for this look.

Trying out unconventional things is something I want to do more even with the hesitation of it probably getting doomed. So wear what you want girls, and as long as you feel good, you'll look good! And if you do try culottes don't forget to share your pretty pictures and tag me on Instagram.
